Modern China @ Hong Kong (Causeway Bay/Times Square)

Let me tell you about delicious Shanghai food at Modern China...hmmmm....so delicious! It was nice to try some dishes that we don't have in the states and I was hooked! My favorite is this spicy shredded chicken with this special noodle that looks like rice noodle but isn't. Oh yeaa! The salt and pepper chicken cartilage, so good too! It's like potato chips! Keep popping them in my mouth!

Shredded Chicken w. Vermicelli
best thing EVER! hands down. i can't explain it, but it's so tasty! it's spicy, it's refreshing, it's peanutty!!

Xiao Long Bao
mehhh average. shanghai joe's in nyc is still better

Golden Tea Smoked Eggs
ok this is weird. it's like an egg, that's been smoked until it's cooked. i don't know how they do it. it's smoky flavor though, and the yolk is like gelatinous. it's no runny or like "softboiled" eggs. just weird. it is tasty.

Salt & Pepper Cartilage Chicken
ok this might sound weird! but it's so good! they're crispy and crunchy and you just pop them into your mouth like potato chips! seriously, give me a movie and instead of a bag of popcorn i'll eat this!

Snow Cabbage w. Pork & Glutinous Rice
never had "neeh go" that was this fresh. and not oily!

Dan Dan Mein
i love you, and i've been craving you since i've been back. if you need to eat anything at a shanghai restaurant it is this!

Lau Sa Bao
[Egg Yolk Bun]

it is the best! best best best! i've had BETTER THAN SF! it's egg yolk, but they like mix salted duck egg into it, so when you split it in half it runs all over the place. i love the salty and savory flavor. melts!

Deep Fried Souffle Ball

[red bean inside and dusted with powder sugar]
this was so light and airy! so light and airy! not too sweet too, maybe ice cream would have made it even better hahaha. even though this is fried, there's like no hint of oil or oilyness. one thing that is great about hong kong is that when things are fried, they don't feel fried! your lips aren't oily, you don't feel this film down your throat, and you don't get the immediate shine on your face. loves it!
