One Speed Pizza @ Sacramento

Officially, I will stop being amazed when I find good eats in Sacramento. Officially. I will accept that I will never find good chinese, japanese, vietnamese, thai...or just in general asian food. I have come to terms with that. However, Sacramento does have "random" or "weird" eats that I can't really put into a category. Take for example, One Speed Pizza. Is it a pizza joint? Is it a restaurant? Is it American faire? I don't know...however I do know is that you can get cheap wine, good pizza, and good beets! Who knew? [btw for those of you who know sac eats, this place is owned by the same people of waterboy, but the menu is way more affordable]

This post is to ducky and da-yogi. A great meal, great friends and great convos. Hope we do this again! Let's do this place for brunch one day!

Wine!!
one class for $3.75, or half a carafe for $10...a steal!

Heirloom Tomato Panzanella
i heart tomatoes...did you know that? i can eat them in any form, whether they be cooked or raw. they must be in every sandwich and hamburger or it just won't do. and as for this lovely heirloom salad with fresh mozzarella...it was just simply to die for. so fresh, so flavorful, so simple, and oh so simple. more please?

Roasted Beets
[with feta, picked onion, fresh mint and orange]
as ducky says it's BEETS! BEETS!! BEETS! if you didn't know she love love loves beets, and not a fan of uncooked tomatoes. heheh. now the last time i ate a beet was when this penguin was in elementary school and it was a side dish during lunch when i was in child care during the summer. i just remeber not liking it very much. i gave this beet dish a try, and surprisingly they were good. i think it's cause of the feta...feta's good :) but BEETS!

Special Pizza of the Day
[prosciutto, onions, mozarella, gouda]
so this pizza sounded really good, like really good. i think the selling point was the gouda on the cheese...remember how i said i love love love gouda? well i've never had it on pizza, so it has to be amazing right?!?! well the pizza was good...and let me tell you the crust/dough on this baby, its quite scrumptious...it's thin, its crispy and just wowza. however, i didn't taste the gouda. and that was disappointing. so maybe pizza and gouda don't mix? maybe they didn't put enough gouda on it? who knows...but! the next pizza...flavors POP!

Sausage Pizza
[housemade italian, mozzarella, peperonata, broccoli rabe, tomato sauce]
ok this pizza was really good...and i think the three of us were definitely in agreement over this. the homemade sausage was spicy, sweet, salty, juicy and much more. but i think what topped it off was the broccoli rabe, because the flavor of it really popped out of the pizza. it was unique, it was distinct, it was fantastic!!!
